Looney Choons @ RTRFM 92.1 - 7 May 2010 download Whenever I visit Perth, I make a point of going up to the RTR studio for Looney Choons. It's good fun playing music in there, it's just a nice and quiet room with a good soundsystem and a city full of listeners - night owls, clubbers, people driving home. Years ago we would regularly get calls from two bakers who were listening, presumably whilst baking. I've got a few recordings from back then. It's a fantastic station with many good shows - Underground Solution was and is my favourite radio show. I went back there recently and it remains as fun as ever. This recording is made up of all sorts of dance music I've been enjoying in the last year (and a couple of cheesy advertisments for tickets to see Mick Malthouse). ![]() | Not sure | ||||

Dub Techno Mix download Not sure why I called this "Dub Techno Mix" when it doesn't have much proper dub techno on it. Not a Basic Channel record in sight. However it is kinda dubby... and it is techno ish... Not much of a tracklist. Sorry. Tracklist ?? ?? (Dial Records) Sutekh - Periods.Make.Sense LP (Force Inc) ?? Old Techno Mix download A mix of late 90s techno, starting off with some German stuff, but finishing with this epic sequence of classic Detroit techno tunes, including Knights of the Jaguar, Black Water, Strings of Life, Sex in Zero Gravity. In fact, I played all the mixes of Knights of the Jaguar in some kind of orgy of strings. Unfortunately I don't feel like I quite did it justice. Oh well. Tracklist Heiko Laux - Sensefiction (Kanzleramt) Aril Brikha - On and on (Transmat) Something from Kanzleramt 5 compilation Something from Tresor 100 compilation, possibly Scan 7 - Triple Darkness Robert Hood - Sophisticatto (Duet) ?? ?? Advanced Engines download Advanced Engines was a techno gig in Perth that was fantastic in many ways. I think I met quite a few friends for the first time at that gig. After a while they put on another one, Advanced Engines 2, which had a few German techno guys come and play live, I think Heiko Laux was one. I was pretty pleased to be asked to DJ at it, and spent quite a bit of time going through my records beforehand to pick lots of great tunes that would work on a dancefloor. The set turned out great, one of my friends said it was the set of the night (which made me pretty pleased). I wish I'd recorded it then, but instead, I woke up the next day and decided to try and recreate it. This is always a mixed bag, in that it's good to go back and listen to the tunes and remember the gig, but it's never going to be the same. I think this recording does it justice for the most part. Try and imagine the first song being mixed into Derrick May's Kaotic Harmony - the last tune from my friend James. No tracklist for this one, I can't remember the names of most of these tunes. ![]() | techno, minimal, electro |

Looney Choons Radio - RTRFM 1 March 2003 download Another late night in the RTRFM studio. This one starts off with a really nice tune from Morr Music, very melodic, and then continues in the melodic techno vein. There's one fantastic old Clear tune on there at about 22 minutes, by Metamatics, which was one of the first underground dance music records I ever heard, on Ben Stinga's show. It only recorded 35 minutes for some reason. Grr! ![]() | techno, minimal, electro |

Looney Choons Radio - RTRFM 12 July 2003 download This is a nice smooth mix of melodic techno. I've never heard a more amusing description of any mix than of my friend Mirko, who said it sounded like I was playing records whilst being massaged by three beautiful women. Tracklist 1. Minimal Exposure 25 March 2006 download I'm not sure, but I think this was the first Minimal Exposure. This is a techno / electronic music night at the Velvet Lounge once a month on a Saturday night, and as such, is one of the few / only regular music nights in Perth worth going to. It's certainly the only techno night I'm aware of. I was so excited about this night starting up, I chose some great unusual tunes to play, starting off with Ryoji Ikeda's Dataplex, Battles' epic remix of Fourtet, Ammoncontact, and then going all over the techno / house realm, with a little broken beat thrown in. It ended up sounding pretty good, I think. Ryoji Ikeda - Data.Microhelix (Raster-Noton) Ryoji Ikeda - Data.Superhelix (Raster-Noton) Fourtet - A Joy (Battles remix) (Domino) Ammoncontact - A Satellite's Return (Ninja Tune) Rednose Distrikt - NY Boom (Domu Remix) (Rush hour) Yotoko- Bullet Time (Emoticon) The Rip-Off Artist - Baby Daddy (Akufen Remix) (Tora Tora Tora) Soft Pink Truth - Gender Studies (Safety Scissors' Closet Reorganization) (Soundslike) Dave Miller - Broken Fun, Now Mixed (Background) Soul Center - A Good One (W.v.B. Enterprises) Sutekh - Pombo Doente (Onitor) Matthew Herbert - On Your Feet (Soundslike) Pigeon Funk - Mocito (Proptronix) ?? ?? (I can't remember the names of the artists or records of these broken beat tunes) ?? The Rotating Assembly - Orchestra Hall (Sound Signature) Matthew Jonson - Marionnette (Wagon Repair) Moodymann - I can't kick this feeling when it hits (Planet E) Brett Johnson - Stucco Homes (Classic) Prince - Erotic City (WEA) Solvent - Tilt-Top (Ghostly) ![]() | glitch, downbeat, techno, house, broken beat, electro |

Minimal Exposure 30 December 2008 download After living in London for a few years, I went back to Perth and was lucky enough to get a short set at Minimal Exposure. I decided to play some dubstep that is a bit like techno. I'm sorry the sound is so quiet on this mix, it gets louder as it goes. Please adjust your set. 1. Shackleton - I want to eat you (Mordant music) 2. Martyn - Vancouver (3024) 3. Martyn - Vancouver (2562 remix) (3024) 4. Pangea - Router (Hessle) 5. Martyn - Suburbia (Applepips) 6.
